Conklin Affinity™ – Polyurethane Roof Coating

Product Description

Conklin Affinity™ is a polyurethane roof coating with a highly reflective and bright white finish. It is a one-coat waterproofing system used in combination with systems for:

  • Metal Roofs
  • Conklin’s Fabric Reinforced System
  • Approved Membranes
  • Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF)

Contractors are also known to use this product to seal gutters.

    Training Programs
    Lifetime Support
    • Apply 1.1 gallons of Affinity™ over a roof area of 100 square feet (sq. ft.). This rate includes a loss allowance of 15% for application and 10% for surface texture
    • If the roofing substrate is irregular, use extra Affinity™
    • When using granules, embed them using a second top coat at the rate of:
      • 0 gallon per 100 sq. ft. for Roofing Granules
      • 50 pounds (lbs) per 100 sq. ft. for Quartz Granules

    Application

    • Ensure that the personnel have read and understood the safety data sheet
    • When spraying the coating, make the personnel use a NIOSH-approved mist / dust mask
    • Make sure the personnel are also wearing other, necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) because the product:
      • Contains chemicals that the State of California lists as ones that may cause birth defects, cancer, and reproductive disorders
      • Is harmful when swallowed
      • Can cause irritation for the skin, eyes, and the respiratory system
    • Always mix Affinity™ with color packet completely before use
    • Apply on a surface that is:
      • Dry, clean, solid, and structurally sound
      • Smooth and finished
      • Clean and free of substances that prevent good adhesion such as moisture, grease, contaminants, dirt, wax, and chips of roofing or other material
    • When applying on certain surfaces, you may need to install / establish proper drains, positive slope to drain, roofing vents, flashings, vapor retarders, and expansion joints
    • Do not apply the product on a SPF foam surfaces with the following textures:
      • Tree bark
      • Verge popcorn
      • Popcorn
    • Temperature and Moisture considerations during application:
      • Ambient temperature must be between 40°F and 100°F
      • Relative humidity must be less than 80%
      • Surface temperature must be at least 5°F above dew point but less than 120°F
      • Do not apply during inclement weather
    • The surface for application must have:
      • Less than 36 sq. ft. of water in any area with a depth of ¼-inch and more at a time of 48 hours after rains
      • Less than 5% of the total area under bird baths (i.e. small, irrelevant amounts of water on roofs that evaporates quickly)
      • Arrangements to drain away water quickly
    • Dispose the coating in a manner that adheres to local, state, and federal regulations for disposal of hazardous waste

    Storage Requirements

    Storage guidelines for Affinity™:

    • Store the product at a cool place that is:
    • Above 40°F
    • Protected from freezing
    • Out of reach of children
    • Close containers tightly when not using the coating
