Conklin Rapid Roof™ III Base Coat and Conklin Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat have a proven track record since 1977 under the original name of Rapid Roof. Seamless, weather-proof, flexible, and lightweight, they hold UL Class A fire classification and offer exceptional resistance to harsh weather elements and building movements.
Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat is an acrylic, elastomeric, and monolithic roof coating that holds the ENERGY STAR certification for energy efficiency and reflectivity. It reflects up to 85% of sunrays and slashes the cooling and heating energy bills so significantly that many building owners have completely recovered their investment inside the warranty period.
Available in bright white, light gray, and light tan finishes, the top coat is a water-based formulation that is environment-friendly and easily cleaned. Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat offers high levels of dirt resistance and thoroughly waterproofs the following approved surfaces:

Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat works in combination with:

Coverage Rate
- Basic application rates:
- First apply Rapid Roof™ III Base Coat at the rate of 1.9 gallons per 100 square feet (sq. ft.)
- Then apply Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat at the rate of 1.9 gallons per 100 sq. ft.
- The rates include a loss allowance of 15% for application and 10% for surface texture
- Use extra coatings when roofing substrates are highly irregular
- The coatings must cover the entire roof in an unbroken, continuous film with a minimum dry thickness of 13.5 mils per coat
- If you are using granules, embed them with a second top coat at the rate of:
- 0 gallon per 100 sq. ft. for Roofing Granules
- 50 pounds (lbs) per 100 sq. ft. for Quartz Granules
Application
Guidelines for the application of Rapid Roof™ III Base Coat and Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat:
- Make sure the personnel using the products have thoroughly read and understood the safety data sheet
- Personnel spraying the coatings must use a NIOSH-approved mist / dust mask
- Ensure the personnel are also wearing other, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) because the products:
- Contain chemicals that the State of California identifies as those that may cause birth defects, cancer, and reproductive disorders
- Are harmful when swallowed
- Can cause irritation for the skin, eyes, and the respiratory system
- Mix the coatings thoroughly with themselves before use (i.e. mix Rapid Roof™ III Base Coat with itself in the container before use)
- Do not mix the base coat with the top coat and do not dilute them using other substances, solvents, or liquids
- Before applying, ensure the surface is:
- Dry, solid, clean, and structurally sound
- Smooth and finished
- Free of impurities that obstruct proper adhesion viz. moisture, chips of roofing and other material, contaminants, grease, dirt, and wax
- For application on certain surfaces and decks, you will have to establish / install special drains, roofing vents, positive slope to drain, vapour retarders, flashings, and expansion joints
- Do not apply the coatings on a SPF foam surface that has the following textures:
- Tree bark
- Verge popcorn
- Popcorn
- Temperature and Moisture guidelines:
- Ambient temperature must be between 40°F and 100°F
- Relative humidity must be below 80%
- Surface temperature should be at least 5°F above dew point but less than 120°F
- Do not apply during inclement weather
- The surface / roof where you apply the coating should have:
- Less than 36 sq. ft. of water in any area with a depth of ¼-inch or more at a time of 48 hours after rains
- Less than 5% of the total surface area under bird bathse. small, inconsequential water ponds on roofs that evaporate rapidly
- Arrangements to quickly drain away water
- Zero ponding water if the surface is polyurethane foam
- Dispose product in a manner that abides by local, state, and federal regulations
Storage Requirements
Storage guidelines for Rapid Roof™ III Base Coat and Rapid Roof™ III Top Coat:
- Store the coatings at a cool location that is:
- Above 40°F
- Protected from freezing
- Out of reach of children
- Close containers tightly when you are not using the products
